2024 - 2025 Programs Calendar

October 2024:

The 2025 Akamai Internship Program application opens.

November 2024:

Akamai Program staff will hold in-person and virtual campus visits throughout the islands to share more information and answer any questions about our internship program.

December 2024 - January 2025:

Prospective Akamai Internship mentors submit proposals for internship projects.

Information for mentors is on our Becoming an Akamai Mentor page

Akamai program staff continue to schedule campus visits and recruit internship applicants (email akamai@ucsc.edu to schedule a visit).

January 2025:

Meetings with prospective mentors.

Mentors continue to submit project proposals.

February 2025:

The 2025 Akamai Internship application closes.

Akamai Internship Program application review begins.

March 2025:

Internship offers and acceptance packets are sent to prospective Akamai Interns. Waitlisted applicants are notified if spaces become available.

The Akamai Mentor Workshop  application opens.

April 2025:

The 2025 Akamai Internship cohort is finalized.

Akamai Mentor Workshop acceptances and final workshop details are sent out.

May 2025:

The Akamai Mentor Workshop held in Hilo, Hawaii; dated TBA.

June 2025:

The 2025 Akamai Internship Program and PREP course kicks off on June 1st, 2025 at the University of Hawai'i at Hilo.

Interns begin their work at internship sites on June 9, 2025.

July 2025:

Akamai Program staff travel to internship sites to meet with mentor and interns. Following site visits, interns give project introduction presentations to Akamai Program staff.

August 2025:

Akamai interns wrap-up their projects and give a capstone presentation at their local symposium sites (Waimea, Hilo, Kihei and Santa Cruz).

2025 Akamai Internship Program concludes: Aug 8th, 2025.
