Ella was born and raised on the North Shore of Maui
before moving to O?ahu with her family during her
formative years. She graduated from Kalani High School
during the pandemic and went on to attend Kapi?olani
Community College, where she earned an Associate’s
degree in Computer Science. She is currently pursuing
her undergraduate degree in Information and Computer
Science at UH M?noa. After graduating, she plans to
have a career in software development or data analytics.
In her free time, she enjoys surfing, hiking, baking, and
painting.

Project title: Automated Testing of Geospatial Software and Analytic Applications

Project Abstract:

Privateer’s software platform Elements provides geospatial intelligence services through analysis of
satellite imagery and spatial data. This application caters to a large customer base and is a site that
hosts massive data sets for the Automatic Identification System. Reliability and quality assurance
are essential to the platform’s operations and expansion. Current manual testing is time-consuming,
error-prone, and limited by scalability to Privateer’s larger platforms. Through the practice of
end-to-end testing, running Playwright scripts offers an optimal solution to validate orbital insights
and project workflows. These tests simulate real user interactions to identify software regressions
before updates and releases, enabling early detection of missing data, accessibility issues, and
functional defects. Moreover, by validating a small subset of satellite imagery, the testing framework
can be applied efficiently across large-scale imaging datasets. With that in mind, successful
automation means production at large scale and prevention of system failure.
