The Summit included 37 participants, plus an additional 20 joined for the Roundtable on the afternoon of Friday, May 1.
Roundtable with Observatory Leaders
As part of the Summit we held a special session in which observatory leaders joined to contribute perspectives and learn about how Akamai has been so successful, as well as the broader impact on observatory workplaces. This session was on Friday, May 1, from 2:30-5:00 PM, followed by a reception.
Summit participants worked in teams of three along with Summit organizers to create vignettes and scenarios that illuminate how themes from the Mentor Workshop can be applied to “design” a productive intern project. Products created at the Summit are posted on our new website, Mentoring By Design.
The Summit was made possible with funding from the Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation, the National Science Foundation (AST#2034962), and ISEE’s Presidential Award for Excellence in Science, Mathematics and Engineering Mentoring.
