Project Abstract:
Akimeka provides information management and information technology services and solutions to Department of Defense customers. With its growing number of customers, Akimeka needs to be able to keep track of their inventory effectively. The old system, using spreadsheets, has become more difficult to manage. The goal of this project was to design and build an inventory management database which allows the user to enter data easily using forms and perform advanced searches using queries. The first step was to talk with the inventory managers and determine what they expected the database to accomplish. When the design was completed it was presented to the Inventory Managers and, with their approval, development began. Test data was input to the database to see if we got the expected results. After successful testing, I began training the Inventory Managers how to use and manage the database. The design and implementation of the database system will be presented.
