Akamai Mentor Summit

April 30-May 2, 2026

King Kamehameha Kona Beach Resort

The Institute for Scientist & Engineer Educators (ISEE) at University of California Observatories is offering the Akamai Mentor Summit for alumni of the Akamai Mentor Workshop.

This gathering will bring together alumni of the Akamai Mentor Workshop to:

Create Products

that share lessons with other mentors

Recognize Mentors

and their accomplishments

Develop new ideas

 for improving internship programs

Strengthen

 the Akamai mentoring community

Applications for travel support will open soon. We will be able to offer support for airfares, accommodations, and some meals. Priority will be given based on years of participation in the Akamai Mentor Workshop and years of mentoring Akamai interns.

A list of alumni from the Akamai Mentor Workshop can be found HERE.

If you are mentoring in the 2026 Akamai Internship Program, have not participated in the Akamai Mentor Workshop (not on the page linked above), and would like to attend the Summit, please first attend the “mini” workshop.

Roundtable with Observatory Leaders

As part of the Summit we will hold a special session in which observatory leaders are invited to join and learn about how Akamai has been so successful, as well as the broader impact on observatory workplaces. This session will be on Friday, May 1, from 3:00-5:00 PM, followed by a reception.

Note: All Summit attendees are automatically registered for the Roundtable event. The registration button above is only for those who are not attending the full Summit (4/30-5/3).

The Summit is made possible with funding from the Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation, the National Science Foundation (AST#2034962), and ISEE’s Presidential Award for Excellence in Science, Mathematics and Engineering Mentoring.
