Summit session times:
Thursday, April 30: 3:30 PM – 5:30 PM (with reception to follow)
Friday, May 1: 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM (with reception to follow)
Saturday, May 2: 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM (with celebration dinner to follow)
Hotel & workshop location
King Kamehameha Kona Beach Resort, 75-5660 Palani Rd, Kailua-Kona, HI 96740
Lodging is paid for through a group contract; we will reserve your room for the nights indicated on your workshop acceptance email. Please do not contact the hotel directly to book a room. The workshop is in the Kamakahonu Ballroom.
Travel companions and extra nights at hotel:

Participants staying at the hotel will be in single rooms, and may request either a king bed or two queen beds.

Participants are welcome to include travel companions in the accommodations. However the workshop days are quite busy, and participants will be occupied during the lunches, receptions, and closing dinner as well. Please review the Agenda to be familiar with all events when the Summit Participants will be occupied.
- Extra nights: you will be able to indicate additional self-paid nights on the application. The inclusive rate is $309 per night.
Airport & ground transportation information
The nearest airport is the Kona International Airport (airport code KOA). We do not reimburse for ground transportation such as rental cars, taxis, or ride-share services. We will assist participants to coordinate carpool arrangements.

Parking
For those driving, there is a daily parking fee of $20, which we will cover.
Meals
ISEE will be providing the following meals:
- Lunch (and evening reception) on May 1
- Lunch and dinner on May 2
Complimentary coffee and tea will be available. You will need to cover your own costs for meals outside of what is provided (breakfasts, meals during travel, snacks, etc.).
For meals outside of what is provided during the Summit, there is a restaurant at the hotel, and many options within walking distance.
Participants will submit a short confirmation form capturing dietary restrictions.
Costs, travel awards and reimbursements
The application to attend the Mentor Summit includes a request for a travel award. All accepted participants receive registration fee waivers. For those with a travel award which includes lodging, your reservation will be arranged and paid for through a group contract (all rooms are paid for through a master account except any personal nights added). For participants who have received a travel award for their airfare, the following process should be used to purchase ticket:
- IMPORTANT NOTE: If ISEE has provided you with a travel award that covers your airfare, we are only able to reimburse for a ticket that matches the travel dates indicated in our acceptance email.
- Purchase your ticket by Friday, March 13, 2026
- Purchase your ticket directly, if it is no more than 10% above what is indicated on your acceptance email
- If your airfare is more than 10% above what is indicated on your acceptance email, please contact us to approve the additional expense.
- Send your airfare receipt to akamai-admin@ucsc.edu as soon as you have purchased it
- If you would like for us to purchase your ticket directly, please send a request to akamai-admin@ucsc.edu
For reimbursement:
- We will reimburse you after the workshop
Accessibility
Summit sessions and accommodations are all at the King Kamehameha Kona Beach Resort. Guest rooms with ADA accessible bathrooms are available. Summit sessions include discussions in groups of 2-8, with participants moving between groups in the Kamakahonu Ballroom, a wheelchair accessible meeting space. Please let us know if you will need accommodations to fully participate in the workshop.
Preparing for the workshop
Please bring your laptop computer. In mid-April, we will send out short reading material, and a quick task to be done before the Summit.
